Fall brings new fashion and a bunch of new YA! What could be better than fiction + fashion? Plus, at the end of the post, read about My September Fiction + Fashion themed Freebie Fridays! Pick a fall fashion trend and I’ll pick you a fall YA book!
Pick a Fall Fashion Trend and I’ll Pick You a Book
Pick a Fall Fashion Trend Option #1: Moody, romantic florals
Moody and dramatic rather than frilly and feminine, dark florals are for those who want to look romantic and edgy all at the same time. (Fashions by Oscar de la Renta, Temperley London, Etro)
YA Match: Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore

Could there be a more perfect match, both in cover and tone?
For nearly a century, the Nomeolvides women have tended the grounds of La Pradera, the lush estate gardens that enchant guests from around the world. They’ve also hidden a tragic legacy: if they fall in love too deeply, their lovers vanish. But then, after generations of vanishings, a strange boy appears in the gardens. The boy is a mystery to Estrella, the Nomeolvides girl who finds him, and to her family, but he’s even more a mystery to himself; he knows nothing more about who he is or where he came from than his first name. As Estrella tries to help Fel piece together his unknown past, La Pradera leads them to secrets as dangerous as they are magical in this stunning exploration of love, loss, and family.
This book comes out October 5 from Feiwel and Friends.
Pick a Fall Fashion Trend #2: PJ-inspired clothing
Part of the 2017 menswear trend, these styles are more inspired by oversized men’s pajamas and robes than frilly women’s lingerie. (Fashions by Fendi, Rochas and Givenchy.)
YA Match: A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares by Krystal Sutherland
I have been accused of being a hermit, which is apparently one step from agoraphobia. What could be more perfect than wearing PJs but being able to claim you’re wearing clothes?
Pick a Fall Fashion Trend #3: Snake Motifs
These snake accessories are another trend that blends beauty and edginess in a dramatic way (fashions by Bulgari and Gucci).
YA Match: Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao
Eighteen-year-old Xifeng is beautiful. The stars say she is destined for greatness, that she is meant to be Empress of Feng Lu. But only if she embraces the darkness within her. Growing up as a peasant in a forgotten village on the edge of the map, Xifeng longs to fulfill the destiny promised to her by her cruel aunt, the witch Guma, who has read the cards and seen glimmers of Xifeng’s majestic future.
But is the price of the throne too high? Because in order to achieve greatness, she must spurn the young man who loves her and exploit the callous magic that runs through her veins–sorcery fueled by eating the hearts of the recently killed. For the god who has sent her on this journey will not be satisfied until his power is absolute.
Tell me which trend you chose (or about another fall trend you love) in comments!

I guess the pj’s are the closest for me but mine aren’t nearly as fancy as that. They’re either Winnie the Pooh or dog prints lol
What do I read if I’m just wearing old shorts and a t-shirt????
For What It’s Worth
Haha — same. I did splurge on nice PJs recently and I love them!
Mine was for sure the dark floral and I have already added Wild Beauty to tbr. Thanks for posting such a fun post!
I love the dark floral trend because I’m not such a girly-girl in style. I feel like I could do a dark floral shirt with black skinny jeans and still feel like myself!
Anna-Marie’s cover is so so stunning! And I know the contents will match.
I’m looking forward to that one!
How fun! I love to wear my pj’s…..I usually put them on as soon as I get home from work.
I count down until the time until I can put on my PJs again…
None of these styles are for me but since I’m wearing pajamas and there’s a cat currently sitting on my lap… I’m going with A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares. LoL

Haha – #1 takeaway from this post: we book people really love our PJs.
I will always be a proponent of making it acceptable for PJs to be worn in public!!! I LIVE in them– except mine never match and are mostly old t-shirts from when I was in middle school (SO COMFY THOUGH).
lol – this post has taught me that YA bloggers are pretty much one big Pajama Party. Good to know 🙂
This is such a cute post idea, I love the creativity. So glad I stumbled upon this 🙂
Thanks so much!
