New Christmas Movies to Watch in 2025

I have the tea on EIGHT new Christmas movies so there is a perfect fit here for everyone, from a family to a romance lover to a mystery buff!
New Christmas Movies to Watch in 2025 on Netflix
Netflix has brought the star power this year with some fun choices!
A Merry Little Ex-Mas

- Who is in it? Alicia Silverstone, Oliver Hudson, Jameela Jamil and Melissa Joan Hart
- What’s the vibe? Small town holidays, family chaos
- Who is it for? Fans of second chance romance as the movie is about a divorced couple who has some feelings when they each have new dates for the holidays. Okay for teens and up.
- What did I think? I enjoyed this one! It had realistic family dynamics, a main character devoted to environmentalism, and a sweet romance!
Champagne Problems

- Who is in it? Minka Kelly from Friday Night Lights
- What’s the vibe? Romantic Paris holiday, meet cute, rich family drama
- Who is it for? Fans of Emily in Paris as the plot involves an American executive sent to Paris to close a deal. She meets cute with a French guy at a bookstore and quelle surprise! he’s the heir of the company she’s here to meet with. Fine for teens and up!
- What did I think? I have to be honest, I loved the set up but had a hard time getting past Kelly’s breathy baby voice. I struggled!
My Secret Santa

- Who’s in it? Alexandra Breckenridge from Virgin River
- What’s the vibe? Single mom, Santa in disguise, Christmas at a ski resort town
- Who’s it for? Fans of movies like Mrs. Doubtfire and She’s the Man, as main character Taylor applies for a Santa gig to pay for her daughter’s snowboarding lessons. When the son of the resort owner is determined to date her, things get complicated! Would be fine for middle school age kids and up (maybe even younger ones with long attention spans).
- What did I think? I love a good comic disguise plot so I enjoyed this.
Jingle Bell Heist

- Who’s in it? Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer) and Connor Swindells (Sex Education)
- What’s the vibe? Holiday heist in a Harrod’s type store. This one is edgier than the normal sweet Christmas movies. Sophie’s seriously ill mom is the motivation for her minor larceny, which doesn’t make for the cheeriest holiday. Nick finds out about her stealing and blackmails her into a larger heist.
- Who is it for? Fans of British shows that have a little less forced merriment
- What did I think? I wasn’t sure about this one at first, but I cam around!
New Christmas Movies to Watch in 2025 on Prime Video
Prime Video has stepped up their content with a couple of good picks!
Oh What Fun!

- Who’s in it? Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloë Grace Moretz, Denis Leary
- What’s the vibe? Comic family chaos, 80s nostalgia, mom appreciation
- Who is it for? I felt the 80s vibes were so strong in this one. Claire works so hard to make the holidays special, and her family repays her by forgetting her as they head to a holiday show she booked. Annoyed and hurt, she goes on her own adventure. This had Home Alone vibes
- What did I think?
Merv (Coming December 10!

- Who’s in it? Zooey Deschanel and Charlie Cox
- What’s the vibe? When two pet parents break up, what will be the effect on their beloved dog Merv?
- Who is it for? Coming soon!
- What do I think? Coming soon!
New Christmas Movies to Watch in 2025 on Hulu and Network TV
Hallmark and network holiday movies have been mocked for years, but they are also stepping it up and coming up with some good content!
Joy to the World (Hulu)

- Who’s in it? Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage) and Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill, Sullivan’s Crossing)
- What’s the vibe? This one had Hallmark movie vibes, with lower production values and a slightly cheesier feel. Joy grew up in foster care and became an influencer who chronicles life with her imaginary family. When her producer surprises her with an on site Christmas special, she has to enlist a fake family. There’s a rather forced lesson at the end about forgiveness and found family.
- Who’s it for? Fans of Hallmark movies. Fine for teens and up!
- What did I think? For a Hallmark level movie this was not bad.
Mistletoe Murders (Hallmark/Hulu)

- Who’s in it? Sarah Drew (Grey’s Anatomy) and Peter Mooney
- What’s the vibe? Small town cozy mystery
- Who’s it for? Fans of cozies and Hallmark Mystery Movies! If this is the direction that Hallmark Mysteries are taking, I’m in! Emily Lane runs a year round Christmas shop in a small upstate New York town. But her mysterious past rears its head with there are a series of deaths in town. Much to Detective Sam Wilner’s annoyance, Emily is pretty good at solving crimes.
- What did I think? I missed season one, so watched both seasons. Each mystery has two parts, with a total of six episodes operating season. It made perfect light watching as I wrapped presents and cooked.
