The List of Suspicious Things by Jennie Godfrey

Twelve year-old Miv’s father wants to move out of their Yorkshire town after a string of murders. Miv, who doesn’t want to move and leave her best friend Sharon, decides she will have to crack the case herself. Miv and Sharon start making lists!

This one sounds perfect for me (I loved Harriet the Spy, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, and The Mysterious Case of the Dog in the night-time.

Friends and Liars by Kit Frick

I read this book about a group of college friends invited to a memorial of their late friend. It’s very similar to many of the books on my list of Friend Group Thrillers.

Two rival authors are tied together in a deadly situation. This looks like a good fit for my list of Mystery and Thriller Books About Authors, so if you’ve read it, give me your take!

Watch Us Fall by Christina Kovac

This was another Friend Group thriller about a group of young women who share a townhouse in Georgetown when the boyfriend of one of them goes missing. I thought it was okay, but didn’t love it.

The Bird Watcher by Jacquelyn Michard

A woman’s best friend was convicted of murder, but believes she’s innocent.

No One Aboard by Emy McGuire

A wealthy family sets sail on their yacht. But people start dying.

I was a bit skeptical about this one, but ended up enjoying it! It’s great for fans of psychological thrillers and books like We Were Liars.

This was an interesting domestic suspense about two women who claim to be the rightful mother of a young child.

The Living and the Dead by Christoffer Carlsson

This was a very interesting Nordic Noir about a teen party that ends in tragedy. It reminded me a fair amount of The Åre Murders which is a Netflix show on my list of Favorite Nordic Noir Streaming Shows and movies!

A woman who has inherited a bookstore finds a body buried in the store’s front yard.

Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Ace Atkins (comic historical)

A comedic thriller set in 1985 in which a suburban teen suspects his mom’s new boyfriend is the ultimate 1980s bad guy: a KGB agent.

Everyone in the Group Chat Dies by L.M. Chilton

I enjoyed the premise of this one but it didn’t quite deliver.

I love a good mystery set on a boat or train (I have a whole list) but this one didn’t work well for me!

Silent Bones (Karen Pirie #8) by Val McDermid

I love this series! Karen Pirie and her trio of cold case investigators deal with a case of a missing journalist whose body suddenly turns up. Not my favorite of her books, but a solid mystery that delves into Scottish politics!
