- This Nordic Noir locked room thriller leans toward horror (so beware if you’re squeamish)
- The Bachelorette Party has a past/present narrative that follows two ill-fated girls’ trips, one in 2014 and one in 2022
- Set on Isle Blind, a sliver of land on the Baltic Sea Southeast of Sweden
- The 2022 narrative has a character who is a podcaster, but no podcast elements
- I was confused at first as there were a lot of characters, but the second half of the book got much more creepy and compelling
- If you are familiar with Nordic Noir, YES Camilla is the daughter of Viveca Sten, a writer whose books have also been adapted as streaming series

2014 Characters:
The “Nacka Four,” group of childhood friends who have gathered on Isle Blind for eleven years, but all go missing in 2014.

2022 Characters
On Isle Blind for a Bachelorette party:
- Annelise (bride to be)
- Mikaela (maid of honor who planned the weekend)
- Theresa “Tessa” Nilsson, a podcaster who hosts “The Witching Hour” and is still cyber-stalking her ex-girlfriend/ex-producer
- Lena: Tessa’s sister
- Caroline: a therapist
- Natalie: the outsider; a photographer
- Adam: the chef hired for the weekend
Spoilers for the Ending of The Bachelorette Party
So things got a bit confusing there BUT:
Carl killed the four women in 2014. First, he killed Evelina (who he was secretly sleeping with) and then I’m pretty sure he killed the other three women to cover it up.
Who was the killer in 2022? Those murders were revenge for the 2014 deaths:
- Irene (Matilda’s sister) along with Adam (Linnea’s boyfriend) masterminded the murders as revenge.
- Irene blamed Mikaela for giving Carl an alibi for the murders (Mikaela was secretly seeing Carl, who was also cheating on Matilda with Evelina)
- Irene kills Caroline first (without telling Adam) then gets Adam to round up all the other women and tie them up. In the struggle that ensues, Annalise and Adam also end up dead.
- Mikaela falls off a cliff but lives and is able to kill Irene with a rock as she is attacking Tessa.
