Thanks to the publisher for providing an advance copy for review.

The official synopsis has serious spoilers, so I have edited it!

Synopsis: When Megan discovers sexy photographs of her estranged twin sister Leah on her husband Chris’s phone, she wants answers.

Leah already has everything Megan has ever wanted: fame, fortune, the freedom to do what she wants. Chris is controlling and gaslights his wife.

But when Megan confronts Leah, things take a very surprising turn. Who is lying to whom? And caan one twin live two lives?

What Else Has Sarah Bonner Written?

This is Sarah Bonner’s debut book!

Review of Her Perfect Twin

I have always been obsessed with twin hijinks stories.

Perhaps it was watching The Parent Trap or too many 80s soap operas.

So of course I had to read Her Perfect Twin by Sarah Bonner.

At first I wasn’t sure about the book. Main character Megan is snooping on her husband’s phone when she finds a picture of herself in sexy blue underwear. But she doesn’t remember taking the picture and doesn’t own any blue underwear.

Then Megan mentions she has a twin sister, not seeming to realize that uhhh…. maybe this could be the explanation for the picture?

At this point I was feeling irritated.

But it turns out I shouldn’t have been so judge-y of Megan, who has a lot of real problems. Her husband is a controlling jerk. Her twin sister Leah screwed her out of the huge royalties for a tell-all book they wrote together about their childhood. And the twins’ mother suffered from some kind of terrible mental breakdown and now lives an institution.

The plot of Her Perfect Twin is fun but improbable, filled with lots of twists and turns that kept me turning the pages.

It’s not just Megan’s story either. We get three points of view in the story, which also uses the pandemic as a bit of a plot device.

If you enjoy books about twins, or like twisty fast-paced books, definitely try Her Perfect Twin. You can also check out my list of YA Books About Twins, Clones, and Doppelgängers!
