As an early reviewer of Warcross I’ve been asked to create my own Warcross team. So … meet my Warcross team!
First, here’s a little bit about Warcross by Marie Lu!
For the millions who log in every day, Warcross isn’t just a game—it’s a way of life. The obsession started ten years ago and its fan base now spans the globe, some eager to escape from reality and others hoping to make a profit.
Struggling to make ends meet, teenage hacker Emika Chen works as a bounty hunter, tracking down players who bet on the game illegally. But the bounty hunting world is a competitive one, and survival has not been easy.
Needing to make some quick cash, Emika takes a risk and hacks into the opening game of the international Warcross Championships—only to accidentally glitch herself into the action and become an overnight sensation.
Convinced she’s going to be arrested, Emika is shocked when instead she gets a call from the game’s creator, the elusive young billionaire Hideo Tanaka, with an irresistible offer.
He needs a spy on the inside of this year’s tournament in order to uncover a security problem . . . and he wants Emika for the job. With no time to lose, Emika’s whisked off to Tokyo and thrust into a world of fame and fortune that she’s only dreamed of.
But soon her investigation uncovers a sinister plot, with major consequences for the entire Warcross empire.
Meet my Warcross team!
Choosing a team is a lot of responsibility! In the book, Warcross is a cultural phenomenon, and the International Warcross Championship is watched by fans around the globe.
Here’s my all female Warcross team:
Captain: I had to choose someone cool-headed, someone with lots of experience in a high-stakes game situation. Who else but Katniss Everdeen? I think she’s more than up to the task of leading my team of players.
Fighter: This was tough, but I chose Celaena from the Throne of Glass series. She’s an assassin, so I think she can handle the job.
Shield: I picked Annabeth Chase, who is a daughter of Athena and good at battle strategy.
Architect: This may be an offbeat choice, but I picked Ginny Weasley. I wanted Hermione, but remembered that she was not supposed to be the best at Quiddich. If I’m remembering correctly, think Ginny went on to play Quidditch professionally.
Thief: Yael from Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin. She can shapeshift and she’s a daredevil motorcycle racer, both of which I think could come in handy in the game.
Who would you pick for your Warcross team? Tell me in comments!

Good choices! I would have added River Song from Firefly. A bit of a loose cannon at times but psychic abilities help along with her kick ass ones.
I must confess that I have never seen the show but I agree, psychic abilities could really come in handy!
Fun team! Katniss makes a great captain, and Celaena is pretty kickass from what I’ve heard (haven’t read those).
Thanks so much!
Great choices! I like choosing as far back as Annabeth in middle grade bus and the Ginny choice is pretty inspired!
Annabeth is a long time favorite of mine, too!
So excited for Warcross!! Celaena would make the perfect warrior! I totally didn’t think of Annabeth Chase as a shield, but it makes so much sense! Great team!
Now that I’m back from my trip I’m excited to see who other bloggers chose!
