I’m calling it now: these will be some of the Top Halloween Costumes for 2025: Wednesday Addams, Kpop Demon Hunters, Taylor Swift Showgirls, and possibly Wicked and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
DIY the Top Halloween Costumes for 2025
- I love Halloween and have been creating and posting about book-themed Halloween costumes since the 2010s.
- Two of my top costumes ARE book related: Wednesday Addams (you could also dress as Morticia, Gomez or another of the Nevermore Academy students) and Wicked.
- One of my other goals is sustainability: can you use items from your own closet and supplement them with a few accessories, rather than buy a prepaid costume from a Halloween store? Accessories are often reusable for other costumes!
DIY a Taylor Swift Life of a Showgirl Costume for Halloween 2025
- This should be a very popular costume, but you can make it your own
- There’s group potential in Taylor costumes! If you want to grab some friends and recreate different Taylor Eras costumes, you need this post!

Elements for the Taylor Swift Showgirl Costume
- A sparkly leotard like this one is perfect. (I have many other leotard options PLUS body jewelry on my longer post).
- You can add a jeweled headpiece like this one OR a feathered headpiece like the one here. I have cheaper options on the full post.
- Silver shoes like these are affordable and can be used for formal occasions later, but maybe you have some in your closet already.
- Add some rhinestone jewelry from your own collection, or grab this cuff bracelet, which is very similar to Taylor’s!
DIY a Kpop Demon Hunters Costume for Halloween 2025
- LOVE this for a group costume that can work for any gender and has many size-inclusive options!
- If your closet is filled with Y2K clothes you are set, but you might be able to thrift some great and unique items for your costume!
- Got Doc Martens, chunky silver jewelry, baggy pants, crop tops? Let’s go!
Fun Elements for a DIY Kpop Demon Hunters Costume
- This jacket is very close to the one that Rumi wears, but you might have a zip up jacket in your closet that would work.
- I love these retro parachute pants for rapper Zoey, but you might have something similar. These have very inclusive sizing!
- This yellow mini feels very Mira, but you may have a mini and crop top you can use too.
If you want to embellish some of your clothing, or something you thrifted, here’s a cheap and easy trick: try these fun iron on patch sets. Or these are fun too!
DIY a Wicked Costume for Halloween 2025
- This is such a great couple or BFF costume idea!
- You might already have a witch costume OR a pink prom or bridesmaid dress in your closet
Elements of a Wicked Costume
- For Elphaba, any witchy feeling black dress will do. My Taylor Swift post on Tortured Poets Society costumes has a great black dress that could work for both.
- Elphaba has distinctive round specs, but you could use any inexpensive round gold framed glasses.
- For Galinda, raid your closet for a prom dress or bridesmaid dress. ThredUP also has some amazing and very cheap options. You can filter by size, length, color and price.
- If you want to buy something, check out this pretty pink dress! About $45 with coupon and sizes up to XL. This strapless pink gown is also gorgeous and goes up to size 28.
DIY a Wednesday Addams Costume for 2025
The entire Addams family has great costume options for a group, family or couple.
You can be inspired by the original stories OR the show, which has the Nevermore school outfit.
Elements for a Wednesday Addams Costume
- This is an easy costume to make by shopping your closet. Also, way back in 2019 I urged you to buy a versatile costume element for $10. It’s a detachable white collar which you can grab for only $9. I used the lace version for three costumes in 2019, but if you want a more tailored option, check out this set of two for $10 – a steal of a deal!
- If your kids have to Colonial Days at school or act in The Crucible, you can make a pilgrim costume with the tailored version. Seriously, it’s $10 well-spent.
- In any case, for the Wednesday costume can use the collar with a basic black dress. OR you can wear it with a tie, or a Dark Academia style school uniform jacket. This one is super cute and comes with a skirt. But you could hit your local thrift store and find a great jacket there, which is the most eco-friendly option!
DIY a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Costume for 2025
I am not watching the show, but it’s very popular on Netflix right now. Unfortunately, a long sleeved, low-cut royal blue shirt that ties under your chest is hard to find.
But I found a few ideas for how to make this a group or couples costume that will let you raid your closet (or a family member’s closet.)
Elements of a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Costume
The easiest way is to buy this premade costume that is under $20.
BUT if you have short white denim shorts and want to try to thrift a few elements, like a royal blue silky blouse, a and white denim jacket to cut into a vest, you can spend $9 on these iron on stars and have a unique costume!
If you have a friend who wants to be a Dallas Cowboys player, grab this shirt that goes up to XXL sizes and borrow a football helmet to tote around and carry your Halloween candy.
