My post on New Mystery and Thriller Film Adaptations for Fall 2025 reflects how much I enjoy watching movies based on my favorite books. I’m always curious to see how new book to movie adaptations come out! Here are new options for Fall 2025: movies from Mick Herron, Harlan Coben, Ruth Ware and more!

New for November! Details Below!
All Her Fault (Peacock Nov 6)
The Beast in Me (Netflix Nov 13) – this is coming up on my Netflix account as “The Beast and Me” but all the promo says “in.” What is happening?
Malice (Prime Video Nov 14)
Marlow Murder Club Season 2 (PBS)

The Marlow Murder Club series by Robert Thorogood is about three women in the village of Marlow who annoy the local police by solving murders.

NEW Inspector Lynley series (BBC/Britbox)

American mystery writer Elizabeth George has been writing the Inspector Lynley series for decades. Her books have been adapted by the BBC before.

It doesn’t seem like this adaptation is of the books, but that it uses the Lynley characters and world with new mysteries. But I guess we will see. If you’ve watched it and have a take, leave a comment!
The Girlfriend with Robin Wright (Prime Video)

Starring Robin Wright, this adaptation of the novel The Girlfriend by Michelle Frances is about a wealthy woman whose twenty-something son gets involved with a girl who is trouble. At least, the mother thinks the girl is trouble. The question is: how much trouble?
This got some pretty harsh reviews (this one really made me laugh AND had spoilers.)

Slow Horses Season 5 (Apple TV)

Based on the novel London Rules by Mick Herron, Slow Horses Season 5 has six episodes and is on Apple TV starting Sept 24, 2025.
I’m excited about it!
There’s also a new book in the Slow Horses series which you can check out here!

The Woman in Cabin 10 (Netflix; October 10)

This new Netflix series is based on the 2016 book by a favorite writer of mine, Ruth Ware. It’s the story of a travel writer invited on a luxury cruise in the North Sea. She thinks she witnesses something terrible, but no one believes her!
Check out my Woman in Cabin 10 post for a quick plot refresher if you’ve read the book and forgot it!

Maigret (PBS; October 8; based on the series)

The new PBS/Masterpiece adaptation introduces Jules Maigret in his early 30s—much younger than the traditional portrayal. Maigret has just been promoted within the Police Judiciaire’s Brigade Criminelle “La Crim.” The series also breaks new ground by setting the story in present-day Paris, complete with modern policing’s complexities—CCTV, the internet, and a diverse urban landscape.
Find out more about Maigret on the PBS website.

Cemetery Road (Apple TV; October 29; Mick Herron)

I love British actors Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson so I’m excited for this adaptation of the Mick Herron series featuring Oxford Oxford private investigator Zoë Boehm. Apple TV did a great job with Slow Horses, so I am IN for this one!
All Her Fault (Peacock, Nov 6)

Based on the 2021 book by Andrea Mara, this stars Sarah Snook (Succession) and is about a woman whose son vanishes during a playdate.
New Fall 2025 Mystery and Thriller Shows Not Adapted from Books
These are NOT film adaptations, but all are mysteries or political thrillers coming out in Fall 2025
Unforgotten Season 6 (PBS)

This British series follows a team of London detectives led by DCI Cassie Stuart, DCI Jessie James and DI Sunny Khan as they solve cold cases of missing persons and murder.
I’ve really enjoyed some of this series and look forward to catching up!

Only Murders in the Building Season 5 (Hulu)

I’m a big fan of the show (though I have liked some seasons more than others). I started Season 5 and I am enjoying it so far!
I also made a post of Books Like Only Murders in the Building if you like the vibe of the show.

House of Guinness (Netflix; Sept 2025)
This is not really a mystery, but I know many of my readers love historical fiction and shows like The Gilded Age.
Made by the creators of Peaky Blinders, House of Guinness sounds like a cross between Succession and the Gilded Age. Set in the 1860s and based on the real Guinness family, it takes place in Ireland and New York.
After the death of the family patriarch, his three sons and one daughter grapple with grief and compete for control of the family fortune.
Black Rabbit (Netflix; September 2025)

A guy who runs an underground nightclub in NYC lets his volatile brother back into this life. Starring Jude Law and Jason Bateman.
For fans of Ozark, Long Bright River or King of Ashes.

Harlan Coben’s Lazarus (Prime Video; October 22)

Based on an original story idea and written by bestselling author Coben and Danny Brocklehurst, Harlan Coben’s Lazarus follows Joel Lazarus who returns home after his father Dr. Jonathan Lazarus (Nighy) dies by suicide. Joel grapples with the mystery of his father’s death and his sister’s murder 25 years ago. The show was filmed in Manchester. Many of Coben’s other adaptations have also been filmed in the UK.
House of Dynamite (Netflix; October 24)

A House of Dynamite is a 2025 political thriller directed by Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Forty).
Starring Idris Elba, and Tracy Letts, it follows the U.S. government official response to a single nuclear missile launched by an unidentified enemy.
The Beast in Me (Netflix Nov 13)

Author Agatha “Aggie” Wiggs receded from public life since the tragic death of her young son. She’s been unable to write, but finds an unlikely subject for a new book when the house next door is bought by a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance.
Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth in a game of cat and mouse that might turn deadly.
Malice (Prime Video; Nov 14)

Described as White Lotus meets The Talented Mr. Ripley, this thriller stars David Duchovny and Jack Whitehall.
The wealthy Tanner family are on holiday in Greece when they meet a charming tutor named Jack. When the family’s nanny falls ill, Adam orchestrates his way into their London home, and his true vengeful nature begins to emerge.
When Adam’s obsession with the family raises questions, those who dig deeper into his past find themselves playing a dangerous game.
Watch it here on Prime Video starting November 14
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (Netflix; Dec 12)

This new installment of Knives Out takes the Southern sleuth to a small church in upstate New York, where a priest named has been sent to join a new congregation.
When a murder takes place in the parish, the congregation is left reeling, prompting local police chief Geraldine Scott to join forces with renowned detective Benoit Blanc to unravel a case that defies all logic.
Which of these are you most excited about? Did I miss anything you are loooking forward to? Leave ea a comment!
I’d recommend the new Maigret series on PBS. Like the show Endeavour being about Inspector Morse when he was younger, this is a younger Maigret. Set in Paris (but they speak in English, not subtitled), the acting and writing are superb, the mysteries well-crafted and suspenseful.
Thanks so much – I will add that to the list. I also found a new November series for fans of White Lotus!
