YA Books With Celebrity Romance

YA Celebrity Romances featuring romance with an actor
Ah, what’s better than a story of an ordinary girl who falls in love with a guy who just happens to be a famous actor? These books are like all those great 90s movies: Notting Hill, Music and Lyrics, or Win a Date With Tad Hamilton.
Most titles are YA (young adult) but I have mixed in a few adult Celebrity romances as well, which are marked!
Geekerella by Ashley Poston (YA celebrity romance with fandom themes)
Geeky girl meets a handsome prince (who’s a famous actor) at a cosplay ball. A super inventive and fun retelling of Cinderella! I read and reviewed this cute geeky romance in 2017!

Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic sci-fi series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball, and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck (and her dad’s old costume), Elle’s determined to win…unless her stepsisters get there first.
Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons—before he was famous. Now they’re nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he’s ever wanted, but the Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise.
Bookish and the Beast by Ashley Poston (YA celebrity romance)
I read this Beauty and the Beast retelling and really enjoyed it!

Bookish Rosie stumbles on a (kind of jerk-ish) celebrity who is hiding from the paparazzi in a library.
Rosie Thorne is feeling stuck— in her small town, on that mysterious cosplayer she met at ExcelsiCon, and in her grief over her mother’s death.
Vance Reigns has been Hollywood royalty for as long as he can remember. When a tabloid scandal catches up to him, he’s forced to hide out somewhere the paparazzi would never expect to find him: Small Town USA. At least there’s a library in the house. Too bad he doesn’t read.
When Rosie and Vance’s paths collide and a rare book is accidentally destroyed, Rosie finds herself working to repay the debt. And while most Starfield superfans would jump at the chance to work in close proximity to the Vance Reigns, Rosie has discovered something about Vance: he’s a jerk, and she can’t stand him. The feeling is mutual.
But as Vance and Rosie begrudgingly get to know each other, their careful masks come off—and they may just find that there’s more risk in shutting each other out than in opening their hearts.
Fame, Fate and the First Kiss by Kasie West (YA Celebrity romance)
Read my review of this teen celebrity romance here!

This one gender-flips the famous person, featuring a movie star girl who begins to have feelings for her on-set tutor!
When Lacey Barnes she gets the opportunity to star in a movie alongside one of Hollywood’s hottest actors, she doesn’t hesitate to accept the part.
But Lacey has trouble bonding with her costars, her father has hired the nerdy Donavan Lake, to tutor her, and somewhere along the way she’s lost her acting mojo. When it seems like things couldn’t get any worse, it looks like someone on set is deliberately trying to sabotage her.
As Lacey’s world spins out of control, it feels like the only person she can count on—whether it’s helping her try to unravel the mystery of who is out to get her or snap her out of her acting funk—is Donavan. But what she doesn’t count on is this straight-laced boy becoming another distraction.
With her entire future riding on this movie, Lacey knows she can’t afford to get sidetracked by a crush. But for the first time in her life Lacey wonders if it’s true that the best stories really do happen when you go off script.
Famous in Love by Rebecca Searle (YA celebrity romance)

When an ordinary girl lands a role in a movie based on a YA trilogy with a love triangle … and gets involved in a real life triangle. That’s very meta and also a lot of geometry! (This was also a show on Freeform!)
When Paige Townsen, a young unknown, gets cast in the movie adaptation of a blockbuster book series, her life changes practically overnight.
Within a month, Paige has traded the quiet streets of her hometown for a crowded movie set on the shores of Maui, and is spending quality time with her co-star Rainer Devon, one of People’s Sexiest Men Alive.
But when troubled star Jordan Wilder lands the role of the other point in the movie’s famous love triangle, Paige’s crazy new life gets even crazier.
Yes, this is the same Rebecca Searle who now writes adult magical realism stories!
Catch a Falling Star by Kim Culbertson (YA celebrity romance)
Here’s my review of this charming teen celeb romance!

When a Hollywood movie starts filming in Carter’s sleepy little town, she’s offered money to have a fauxmance with the film’s star.
Nothing ever happens in Little, CA. Which is just the way Carter Moon likes it.
But when Hollywood arrives to film a movie starring former child star turned PR mess Adam Jakes, everything changes. Carter’s town becomes a giant glittery set and, much to her annoyance, everyone is starry-eyed for Adam.
Carter seems to be the only girl not falling all over herself to get a glimpse of him. Which apparently makes her perfect for the secret offer of a lifetime: playing the role of Adam’s girlfriend while he’s in town, to improve his public image, in exchange for a hefty paycheck.
Her family really needs the money and so Carter agrees. But it turns out Adam isn’t at all who she thought he was. As they grow closer, their relationship walks a blurry line between what’s real and what’s fake, and Carter must open her eyes to the scariest of unexplored worlds – her future.
Can Carter figure out what she wants out of life AND get the guy? Or are there no Hollywood endings in real life?
Behind the Scenes by Dahlia Adler (YA celebrity romance with fake dating)

Ally is the assistant to her best friend, who stars in the latest teen TV drama. When the friend strikes up a fauxmance with the star, Ally has to admit that she has real feelings for him.
High school senior Ally Duncan’s best friend may be the Vanessa Park – star of TV’s hottest new teen drama – but Ally’s not interested in following in her BFF’s Hollywood footsteps. In fact, the only thing Ally’s ever really wanted is to go to Columbia and study abroad in Paris.
But when her father’s mounting medical bills threaten to stop her dream in its tracks, Ally nabs a position as Van’s on-set assistant to get the cash she needs.
Spending the extra time with Van turns out to be fun, and getting to know her sexy co-star Liam is an added bonus. But when the actors’ publicist arranges for Van and Liam to “date” for the tabloids just after he and Ally share their first kiss, Ally will have to decide exactly what role she’s capable of playing in their world of make believe.
If she can’t play by Hollywood’s rules, she may lose her best friend, her dream future, and her first shot at love.
This is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith (YA celebrity romance)

Another story of a small town teen who meets a movie star when he’s filming in her hometown.
When teenage movie star Graham Larkin accidentally sends small town girl Ellie O’Neill an email about his pet pig, the two seventeen-year-olds strike up a witty and unforgettable correspondence, discussing everything under the sun, except for their names or backgrounds.
Then Graham finds out that Ellie’s Maine hometown is the perfect location for his latest film, and he decides to take their relationship from online to in-person. But can a star as famous as Graham really start a relationship with an ordinary girl like Ellie? And why does Ellie want to avoid the media’s spotlight at all costs?
If you love Jennifer E. Smith, check out my post on her 2010s book that was adapted for Netflix!
Adult Books About Celebrity Romance With an Actor
Nora Goes Off Script by Annabel Monaghan (Adult Celebrity Romance with an actor)
I just read this one – it came out in 2022 and the paperback is now out. Grab it!! You will love it.

Nora Hamilton knows the formula for love better than anyone. As a romance channel screenwriter, it’s her job.
But when her too-good-to work husband leaves her and their two kids, Nora turns her marriage’s collapse into cash and writes the best script of her life.
No one is more surprised than her when it’s picked up for the big screen and set to film on location at her 100-year-old-home. Then former Sexiest Man Alive, Leo Vance, is cast as her ne’er-do-well husband.
The morning after shooting wraps and the crew leaves, Nora finds Leo on her porch with a half-empty bottle of tequila and a proposition.
He’ll pay a thousand dollars a day to stay for a week. The extra seven grand would give Nora breathing room, but it’s the need in his eyes that makes her say yes.
Seven days: it’s the blink of an eye or an eternity depending on how you look at it. Enough time to fall in love. Enough time to break your heart.
How to Fake it In Hollywood by Ava Wilder (Adult Celebrity romance with an actor)
I read this one in 2023 and really enjoyed it. Yes, it tackles some tough topics, including grief and substance abuse, but I loved the way these topics were handled.

Grey Brooks is on a mission to keep her career afloat now that the end of her long-running teen TV show has her pounding the pavement again. With a life-changing role on the line, she’s desperate enough to agree to fake a love affair with a disgraced Hollywood heartthrob who needs the publicity.
Ethan Atkins just wants to be left alone after a high-profile divorce, struggles with drinking, and grief over the death of his best friend.
But if he ever wants to produce the last movie he and his partner wrote together, Ethan needs to step back into the spotlight. A gossip-inducing affair with a gorgeous actress might be just the ticket, even if it’s the last thing he wants to do.
Though their juicy public relationship is less than perfect behind the scenes, it doesn’t take long before Grey and Ethan’s sizzling chemistry starts to feel like more than just an act.
Take Two, Birdie Maxwell by Allison Winn Scotch (Adult Celebrity/Second Chance at Love Romance)
The main character was (to me) childish for a thirty-five year old. But the road trip element was fun and I always enjoy a second chance romance!

Birdie Maxwell is America’s sweetheart, until clips of her having a huge fight with a famous director go viral. So she flees to her hometown, where she learns her sister is emptying their family home so that her parents can rent it out.
When Birdie finds an anonymous love letter (to her!) in one of the boxes, she decides to visit all her exes and figure out who wrote it. She’s accompanied by her neighbor, a reporter who is somewhat sneakily chronicling her journey as a way to revitalize his own career.
Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade (Adult Celebrity/Fandom Romance)
I haven’t read this, but other readers praise the body positivity and loved the fandom angle!

When Marcus asks her out to spite her internet critics, truth officially becomes stranger than fanfiction.
On their date, Marcus quickly realizes he wants more from April than a one-time publicity stunt. But when he discovers she’s actually his closest fandom friend, he has one more huge secret to keep from her.

Jason Thorn: my brother’s childhood friend. He was the first boy that made me blush, my first official crush. But he crushed my little heart into pieces.

To Hate Adam Connor by Ella Maisie (Adult Celebrity Romance with an actor)

Adam Connor is the recently divorced, Academy Award-winning actor who just moved in next door with his kid. He also happens to be an exquisite male specimen and the most infuriating sly bastard I’ve ever come across.
Even if he and his son were the best things since sliced bread, I couldn’t fall for him. I wasn’t a damsel in distress. I could save myself, thank you very much. But I still hoped Adam Connor would be the hero of my story.

Jack Stapleton is a household name, captured by paparazzi on beaches the world over. He is famous for, among other things, rising out of the waves in all manner of clingy board shorts and glistening like a Roman deity.

When Jack’s mom gets sick, he goes home to the family’s Texas ranch to help out. Only one catch: He doesn’t want his family to know about the bodyguard thing. And so Hannah finds herself pretending to be Jack’s girlfriend as a cover. Even though her ex, says no one will believe it.

From the start fans want them to be more than just tour mates, and Annie and Clay can’t help but wonder if the fans are right. But if there’s one part of fame Annie wants nothing to do with, it’s a high-profile relationship.
She had a front row seat to her parents’ volatile marriage and isn’t interested in repeating history. If only she could convince her heart that Clay, with his painful past and head over heels inducing tenor, isn’t worth the risk.
