YA books with Heart Titles?

12.14.2017 by Jen Ryland // 21 Comments

As I’ve been doing my new release posts over the past month or so, I’ve noticed a lot of 2018 YA books with Heart Titles. Is this a new trend for 2018? Or are these just lead-ups to Valentine’s Day?

YA Books with Heart Titles

Late 2017 YA books with hearts in their titles:

Three Sides of a Heart: Stories About Love Triangles edited by Natalie Parker

Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills

When Claudia accidentally eavesdrops on the epic breakup of Paige and Iris, the it-couple at her school, she finds herself in hot water with prickly, difficult Iris. Thrown together against their will in the class production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, along with the goofiest, cutest boy Claudia has ever known, Iris and Claudia are in for an eye-opening senior year.

Instructions for a Secondhand Heart by Tamsyn Murray

Early 2018 YA Books with Heart Titles:

Between the Blade and the Heart by Amanda Hocking

Don’t Cosplay with my Heart by Cecil Castellucci

Purple Hearts by Michael Grant

Beautiful Broken Hearts by Kami Garcia

Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston

Heart of Ash by Kim Liggett

Heart Forger by Rin Chupeco

Which of these titles do you think might capture YOUR heart?  I loved Foolish Hearts and I’m definitely reading Heart of Iron.

omg you’re right. Is that the new buzzword? I feel like 2016 was “Kingdom”.

That’s true! “Kingdom” usually means fantasy and “Heart” can mean non fantasy so I approve of the shift!

At least they look different from each other! This year the trends blurred all the covers together.

Yes – except the typography trend. Will have to do a new post on that…

Spartan Heart by Jennifer Estep just came out earlier this month which I am currently reading and loving! This is a spinoff to her Mythos Academy series.

Oh, thanks – I saw that on a blog earlier this week. I didn’t know about the spinoff until then!

I didn’t even realize this was trend until just now! Shows how much I pay attention lol I borrowed Foolish Hearts from the library this week, and I can’t wait to start it. I’m also looking forward to Heart of Iron – I’ve heard some mixed things but I hope I end up liking it. 🙂

None of these look familiar to me but I’ve been really busy the last few weeks and haven’t been on much. I wonder if publishers decide on a theme or something or if this is just a strange coincidence.

I figure it’s a coincidence or sometimes, like with all the “Girl” books after Gone Girl, it’s a jump-on-the-bandwagon thing. But I can’t think of a Heart book they’d be copying..
