What Were My Favorite Books for July 2025?
She Didn’t See It Coming was pure page-turning fun. It really kept me guessing and I loved it.
If you have done a college drop-off recently, check out You Belong Here. Loved the small college town vibe!
I thought Party of Liars was a fun modern Gothic, but not everyone agreed.
If you’re a Holly Jackson (or YA reader) try Not Quite Dead Yet. It’s technically adult, but has that HoJo feel.
New Mystery and Thriller Books for the Week of July 1 2025
Party of Liars by Kelsey Cox

I just finished reading this one and my review will be up (and linked here) next week. I thought I was getting a teen book, but it’s so different than what I expected!!
Check out my thoughts on Party of Liars in my Quick Take and Readers Guide!
Sunburned by Katherine Wood
I enjoyed reading Lady Killer last summer, so I tried this one. Again, this was SO different from what I expected. I went in expecting a vacation thriller, but it’s more like a locked room mystery … on a yacht. I enjoyed it!
Check out my thoughts on Sun Burned in my Quick Take and Readers Guide!

Fog and Fury by Rachel Howzell Hall
History Lessons by Zoe B. Walbrook

I enjoyed this cozy mystery. See my thoughts on Goodreads!

House of Beth by Kerry Cullen
Her Many Faces by Nikki Cloke
The Goldens by Lauren Wilson
This Stays Between Us by Sara Ochs
This was a Friends With Secrets Thriller with a past/present narrative. I didn’t love that the past took place when the characters were teens, and obnoxious teens at that.
My Goodreads review of This Stays Between Us is here!

Writers and Liars Carol Goodman
I’m still enjoying the books about writers trend!
This had a fun locked room element and reminded me of You Are Fatally Invited.
My Goodreads review of Writers and Liars is here!

Our Secrets Were Safe by Virginia Trench
I didn’t realize I had requested this! It’s a very Pretty Little Liars inspired Friend Group with Secrets mystery. For me, it was overdramatic and overcomplicated, just like the show!
My Goodreads review is here, and if you love books like this I have a whole post on Friend Group Mysteries.
Until Alison by Kate Russo
New Mystery and Thriller Books for the Week of July 22 2025
Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson
SO excited for the adult debut of the author of A Good Girls Guide to Murder!
My Readers Guide has a character list and spoilers and is coming soon!

The List by Steve Berry
Mayra by Nicky Gonzalez
Dead of Summer by Jessa Maxwell
This was a rich people with secrets book, with a past present narrative. I liked but didn’t LOVE it and my full thoughts are on Goodreads here.

Pariah by Dan Fesperman
Love You to Death by Christina Dotson
This sounded like a modern Thelma and Louise, so I decided to try it. It was an interesting story of friendship, trauma, and bad decisions. My thoughts on Goodreads are here!

New Mystery and Thriller Books for the Week of July 29 2025
Guess Again by Charlie Donlea
