The Delivery by Greg Hurwitz : A psychological thriller novella about a sinister AI companion.
I say “no” to novellas!
Hide and Seek by Soren Sveistrup: A woman receives ominous texts and then disappears.
This is the author of The Chestnut Man (adapted for Netflix) if you’re a fan!
The Season of Sinking by Daphne Woolsoncroft : A woman returns home to her small town after her mother dies, hoping for answers.
I read her first book and was not the biggest fan, but if you read and love this, let me know in comments!
Perfect Life by Meredith Lavender and Kendall Shores: A woman moves to Florida to hide her dark past.
Helpless by Jessica Knoll: An erotic thriller about a successful Hollywood producer who runs into the man she never stopped thinking about.
I tried this even though it has low reviews … and it was a miss for me. I do recommend Bright Young Women and also Luckiest Girl Alive, though!
The Mysterious Affair of Judith Potts (Marlow Murder 5) by Robert Thorogood: When someone is killing celebrities in Marlow, the murder club springs into action.

Pretty Dead Things by Kelsey Cox: A woman whose sister disappeared twenty years ago returns home.
I really enjoyed Party of Liars so I tried this. The two books have a similar set-up.
What I did love about Pretty Dead Things: an ending that I really didn’t see coming
What I loved less: the super-short chapters and constant narrator shifts kept me from getting as invested in the story as I might have.
Get Lost by Justin Halpern: When a woman gets a call that her mother has gone missing, she thinks her famous father might be to blame.
The House Guest by Jennifer Pashley: A private chef gets entangled in a deadly love triangle.
This was an erotic thriller. I didn’t hate it, but not really for me.
Like The Housemaid crossed with Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, The House Guest has short chapters, and a very slow-building atmosphere of dread.
Things are pretty slow up to 65% and then something happens! The last 20% is definitely more entertaining.
Don’t Look Away by Daniel Kenitz: A former defense attorney is forced out of retirement to defend her husband, now the prime suspect in a serial murder case.
I’m a fan of legal thrillers so I tried this one. It’s a true thriller, with all the action happening in real time, so it’s very suspenseful. Give it a try if you like a fast-paced read!
July 14 2026 New Mystery & Thriller Releases
This Changes Everything by Lisa Scottoline: Julia from (The Unraveling of Julia) goes back to the United States to support Courtney, whose grandmother has just been murdered.
I’m a big fan of this author, but I am not so into paranormal suspense. This Changes Everything had some exciting moments, but between the setting, the white supremacist stuff and too much paranormal stuff, this wasn’t my favorite Lisa Scottoline book by far. I was happy to see a crossover character though!
Hot Girl Murder Club by Ashley Winstead: A pop star whose sister died mysteriously is accused of murder.
This book was a LOT. It’s a procedural, there are multiple cold cases, there is a HUGE cast of characters. I think you’ll find my Readers Guide helpful, and I’d love to hear your questions.
The Parisian Heist by Jo Piazza: A dual timeline mystery with art heists and dark family secrets.
This was a dual timeline story, set in the 90s and the 1800s. I did enjoy the historical story, which seemed very well-researched. The 1990s one felt a little hand-wavey and I was hoping for a really exciting heist and did not get one.
The Intrigue by Silvia Morena-Garcia: A con artist thinks he’s found an attractive female accomplice, but who is conning whom?
In Wonderland by Joyce Maynard: A young woman hired to be a summer mother’s helper in Maine is drawn into intrigue and murder.
Cross My Heart, I Hope You Die by Mallory Arnold: Three women who learn they are dating the same guy invite him to an isolated cabin.
Unreliable Narrator by Araminta Hall: A woman is hired as an assistant to a famous writer, which leads to disaster. Years later, she learns that someone wrote a book about it all.
I liked Imperfect Women so was exiited to try this! Unreliable Narrator isn’t a fast-paced book but I was intrigued by the well-developed Gothic atmosphere of Shadowlands, and enjoyed the parallels of how writing and detective work are both piecing narratives together. This book won’t be for fans of fast-paced stories but I really enjoyed reading it!
The Death Row Club by V. Vazquez: A getaway for the children of serial killers.
Sisterhood Above All by Kathleen Barber: Sorority sister drama turned deadly.
July 21 2026 New Mystery & Thriller Releases
With Friends Like You by Amy Chozick: A new mother tracks down her former best friend with shocking results.
I forgot that I requested this, but I’m trying it!
Three Reasons for Revenge by Dervla McTiernan: A woman disappears, and then three people receive packages that will destroy them.
I love Dervla McTiernan books! While Three Reasons for Revenge does require some suspension of disbelief, overall I found this gripping and well-constructed story!
The Story Keeper by Kelly Rimmer: A story-within-a-story about a woman finds solace in her family estate and a mysterious book.
Mr. and Mrs. Dixon Hide a Body by Jennifer Holdich: A couple in a toxic marriage decide to cover up a terrible accident.
Masala Chai Mystery Club by M. J. Soni: A retired librarian enlists her mystery-loving friends to solve a murder.
Love a good murder club, and I found this one charming! A retired librarian assembles a mystery-solving club and tries to solve the murder of a neighbor.

The Ballad of the Gangster’s Daughter by Zachary Slingsby: The middle child of a notorious criminal watches each of her sisters die, each time opening two paths for her to follow.
Indie Darling by Lauren Nossett (Flatiron)
A Dolly Parton-loving Nashville PI is hired by a singer with a stalker. This PI procedural had a quirky and appealing main character and a strong feminist bent!
Getting Away With Murder by Shari Lapena; In financial dire straits, a New York couple decides to murder a family member.
Shari Lapena likes to mix it up, and this time she’s trying out a streamlined Freida McFadden style story with unlikeable characters, a thriller format and an ending that will surprise you!
Buyer Beware by Catherine Ryan Howard: A twisty thriller about a woman’s dream house turned nightmare.
If you love Lisa Jewell and are wishing she had another new book to read, try this one. A house filled with secrets, a neighborhood with shady things happening, and characters keeping secrets!
The Mortal Enemy Murder Club (Hu Done it 2) by Gloria Chao: Mandy Thorne, the podcaster and trio’s enemy, needs their help.
This comic cozy mystery series is perfect for fans of the Finlay Donovan series.
Desert Heist by Alex Dekker: An aspiring archaeologist undertakes a dangerous quest.
Night Hunter by Natalie Moss: In a remote corner of the South African bush, two sisters reunite to bury a family secret.
The setting of this was stellar! There was also plenty of family drama.
