If you read The Kind Worth Killing, which I have deemed The Best Book by Peter Swanson, you’ll want to read the sequel. What did I think? Here’s my review of The Kind Worth Saving.

Review of the Kind Worth Saving
The Kind Worth Saving follows Henry Kimball, who is now a private investigator after the events of The Kind Worth Killing. He’s hired by a woman who thinks her husband is cheating on her and wants evidence, which, at least based on TV shows and books, seems like the number one job of PIs.
Of course, things are more complicated than that. I liked having Henry be a PI, because I find that in those books, the main character can be a little bit more rule-breaking. Though PIs have to be licensed and follow rules.
Yes, Henry still writes limericks, even after the events of the first book.
What else you may be wondering:
Do you have to read The Kind Worth Killing before reading The Kind Worth Saving?
Technically no, but I think you will enjoy the book more if you understand the relationship between Henry and Lily.
Do you have to re-read The Kind Worth Killing before reading The Kind Worth Saving?
No. Peter Swanson does a quick (one paragraph) recap of the events of the first book. You can also refresh your memory with my Spoiler Review Post and Plot Summary for The Kind Worth Killing.
Which book was better: The Kind Worth Killing or The Kind Worth Saving?
That is a tough question. As you know if you’re a regular reader, I think The Kind Worth Killing is The Best Book by Peter Swanson.
His last two books, Every Vow You Break and Nine Lives were not my favorite. I did enjoy his Christmas Novella, The Christmas Guest.
But I am going to edit that post to add this new book. I might argue that The Kind Worth Saving is a better book because following Henry Kimball gives the book (and some character relationships) a greater depth and level of complexity.
But I could also argue that because the two books have a lot of similarities (which I won’t go into in this review), I found The Kind Worth Killing more surprising and enjoyable to read. All I will say is that both books are very twisty. Both books involve some very devious and amoral characters. And both will keep you guessing until the end.
What do you think? Did you read the first book, are you reading this and if so, which book was better?
I am listening to this right now!! I love this one and was happy to read your excellent recap of the 1st book.
Ooh, want to know what you think when you are finished. I really liked it.
