This Readers Guide With Spoilers for Witness 8 will discuss that last year, I read my first Steve Cavanagh book and loved it. So I was excited to read his latest. What IS this book, anyway? It’s a mishmash of genres, so did I enjoy it and more importantly, will you? Let’s talk about it!

Witness 8: Jen’s Quick Take
- Witness 8 has quite a few elements. It’s a true thriller, with the reader aware of everything that’s going on in real time.
- It’s also a bit of a neighborhood thriller, with most of the characters and supects residing on one Manhattan block
- And it’s also a legal or courtroom thriller, featuring Eddie Flynn, the protagonist of a series by Steve Cavanagh. Witness 8 is book number eight in the series.
- Maybe you want to read Fifty Fifty first, as that is book five, and this book has spoilers for that one!
- Witness 8 is a fast-paced book that is perfect for readers who love a plot-driven story.
- Also, I don’t think you need to have read the other Flynn books to enjoy this. I had not.
- Publication date: March 25, 2025 by Atria. Thanks to the publisher for the advance copy for review.

Readers Guide With Spoilers for Witness 8 by Steve Cavanagh
For me, Witness 8 was a journey. I started out thinking the book was going to be like The Housemaid by Freida McFadden, as the initial POV character felt very similar: a domestic employee on West 72nd Street in Manhattan who had eyes and ears on everything.
Then, there was a murder. Many neighborhors were suspects, giving the book the feel of a neighborhood suspense story.
Finally, Eddie Flynn enters the picture. He’s involved in the murder case AND has big troubles of his own.
