Why is MAY AAPI Heritage Month?
This post features mysteries and thrillers written by Asian, Asian-American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander authors who can trace their family history to the Far East, Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Hawaiian islands, Polynesia, Micronesia, or Melanesia.
Because it marks the arrival of Japanese immigrants to the United States on May 7, 1843, and also is the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. The majority of the workers who laid the tracks were Chinese immigrants.
Some of these books take place in the United States, while others are set in Europe, Asia or the Pacific Islands.
I’m sure I have missed some authors, so please leave me suggestions in the comments!
