Alice Feeney’s Books In Order

Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney (2018)

Original photo of Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney on a shelf with other thrillers and a blue glass basket
  • Character with amnesia
  • Character who admits she lies
  • MASSIVE gaslighting
  • Toxic marriage

Okay, I’ve just re-read and this is her CRAZIEST book. No contest!

My Spoiler Discussion for Sometimes I Lie

I Know Who You Are by Alice Feeney (2019)

Cover of I Know Who You Are by Alice Feeney. A shadowed face of a pale skinned woman wearing red matte lipstick.
  • A woman with a secret
  • A missing husband
  • Did she kill him?
  • Toxic domestic suspense vibes

I’m curious about this one. I think it was supposed to be called Sometimes I Kill, because that title was incorporated into the story. It was not a sequel. It just had too many elements for me.

His & Hers by Alice Feeney (2020)

Original photo of a copy of His & Hers surrounded by ivy
  • A separated couple
  • He’s a police officer, she’s a journalist
  • A crime committed close to home
  • Did one of them do it?
  • Trigger warning for just about everything!

My Spoiler Discussion for His & Hers

Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney (2021)

  • A man with face blindness
  • His devoted wife … or is she?
  • A romantic anniversary getaway in a remote place
  • Multiple unreliable narrators

Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney (2022)

  • An isolated setting
  • An “And Then There Were None” plot
  • A toxic family gathers for the matriarch’s birthday
  • They die, one by one…

Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney

  • a baby stolen from a stroller
  • a woman is murdered in a care home
  • The two crimes are somehow linked, and a good bad girl may be the key to discovering the truth.

Beautiful Ugly by Alice Feeney

Successful novelist Grady Green has been suffering from terrible writer’s block after the disappearance of his wife Abby.

When Grady’s agent offers him the use of her rustic cottage on the Isle of Amberley, Scotland, he agrees that it might be just the thing to kick-start his writing.

Amberley is an odd place. But when the answer to Grady’s writer’s block falls into his lap, is it a gift or a trap?

My Husband’s Wife by Alice Feeney

Eden Fox has a perfect life: a brand new house in Hope Falls, an adoring husband, and the opening of her first gallery show for her art.

But after returning from a run, she finds that her key does not fit in the door and another woman is standing there with her husband. They both insist she, not Eden, is the wife.

What Are Alice Feeney’s Books About?

Some common themes in Alice Feeney’s books:

Secrets and Lies

I think all of Alice Feeney’s books feature some form of secrets and/or lies kept by the narrator from the reader or the characters from one another

Twisted Family Relationships

Whether it’s toxic couples or toxic families, Feeney loves to show us couple and family members who lie to each other, hide things from one another, even betray one another.

Symbols

Whether it’s that maddeningly elusive bracelet in Sometimes I Lie, or the wedding gift traditions and child’s game in Rock Paper Scissors, or the ladybugs in Good Bad Girl, or the Thistle Ring in Beautiful Ugly, Alice Feeney loves symbolism. She often uses these as clues or Easter eggs for the reader.

Duality

Feeney loves doubles (Amber and Claire), triples (Rock Paper Scissors) and thematic oxymorons (Good Bad Girl, Beautiful Ugly)

Past/Present Storylines

Feeney loves to explore how our childhoods and family relationships shape us (mess us up?) These themes are found in almost all her books.

People Who Are Not Who/What You Think They Are

I don’t want to give examples that are spoilers, but she loves to pull the rug out from under you that way!

Which of Alice Feeney’s Books Have the Highest Goodreads Ratings?

Ratings as of February 2026

My Husband’s Wife 4.26

His & Hers 4.09

Rock Paper Scissors 3.88

Good Bad Girl 3.87

Daisy Darker 3.76

Sometimes I Lie 3.74

Good Bad Girl 3.66

Beautiful Ugly 3.60

I Know Who You Are 3.42

I think these ratings make sense, even if they don’t exactly match my ranking. The only one of her books that didn’t work for me at ALL was I Know Who You Are. Maybe it got rushed out after the success of Sometimes I Lie, because it doesn’t seem as intricate and finished as her other books.

I REALLY loved Daisy Darker and did a very deep dive on it in my Spoiler Post, but it’s atypical for her books and has a divisive element.

I think Beautiful Ugly will be divisive as well, but I enjoyed it!

Which of Alice Feeney’s Books Did I Like Best?

That is a tough question because I really liked five out of six.

I’d say my favorites are My Hudband’s Wife (really good narrative construction and some amazing reveals), Sometimes I Lie (SO twisty and I still have unanswered questions) and Daisy Darker (I understand why the big reveal annoyed people but I loved the Gothic vibe.)

His & Hers was dark (as was I Know Who You Are) and really kept me guessing. Plus I love a toxic couple book. And I eventually guessed the killer but still. It was great.

I think Rock Paper Scissors was the most original, but I didn’t connect with it as much as others obviously did. It’s one of my most commented-on spoiler posts.

I felt the same about Beautiful Ugly. I liked it on an intellectual level, but main character Grady was so unlikeable that I struggled a little.

I understood what I think she was going for with Good Bad Girl (an explorations of family relationships and the labels we put on ourselves and other) but it didn’t 100% come together for me, as I explained in my review and Spoiler Post.

Which Alice Feeney Book Would You Like Most?

If you love a Verity-style book that messes with your head, try Sometimes I Lie. Both of those books were about women who were (or were not) crazy psychopaths. omg!! Or My Husband’s Wife has some pretty ruthless female characters as well.

If you love a dark and twisted murder mystery, try His & Hers. It is dark in tone, and probably needs some readers advisory warnings, but I can see why it has the highest Goodreads rating. It’s the book with the most conventional kind of twisty thriller plot, if that’s important to you.

If (like me) you love a Gothic, and loved evil family movies like Knives Out, try Daisy Darker.

If you’re a Lisa Jewell fan, read Good Bad Girl. It wasn’t my absolute favorite, but really gave me a Jewell vibe!

Rock Paper Scissors was the most cerebral, packed with layers upon layers and symbols upon symbols. It was a lot for me, but most people loved it!
